Morocco ranks first among the Maghreb region countries and 55th globally, according to a report published last Wednesday by MixMode platform, a top provider of advanced AI cybersecurity solutions, based in the United States. In the report entitled “Global Cybercrime Report 2024: Which Countries Face the Highest Risk?,” Morocco received a final cyber safety score of 61 out of 100.
Using a dataset of metrics including the National Cyber Security Index, Cybersecurity Exposure Index, Global Cybersecurity Index, Cyber Resilience Index, and Final Cyber Safety Score, MixMode assessed the preparedness and susceptibility to cyber threats of 70 countries around the world.
With 61 points in the overall assessment, Morocco came in first in the Maghreb region and third on the African continent.
Qatar ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa region and 25th globally, followed by Saudi Arabia (30th) and the United Arab Emirates (31st).
Finland, Norway, and Denmark ranked the top three countries with the lowest risk of cyber threats, all with Final Cyber Safety Scores higher than 92, indicating strong cybersecurity infrastructure and proactive measures.
The most at-risk nations, according to the research are Bolivia, Honduras, Venezuela, Ecuador, Sri Lanka, Panama, and Pakistan.
Understanding a country’s cybersecurity landscape is critical for preventive risk management, as cyber threats grow in today’s interconnected world, according to the study. Strengthening the country’s defensive mechanisms is as essential as taking preventive measures to ensure the safety of nations from cyber threats and attacks.
