On Friday, the Moroccan research, engineering, and topography company “ETAFAT” announced the initiation of the Onshore Survey activities for the Morocco-Nigeria Atlantic Gas Pipeline project to determine the optimal route for it.
This announcement came following a meeting held between ETAFAT, National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines, and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
“The initial topographic studies for the northern part which includes Morocco, Mauritania, and Senegal, have been officially launched,” ETAFAT wrote on LinkedIn.
The gas pipeline project, linking Morocco and Nigeria, is one of the most significant strategic projects on the African continent.
The pipeline, spanning over 5600 kilometers, will pass through 13 African nations before reaching Spain and other European countries. It is anticipated to have a capacity of 30 to 40 billion cubic meters annually, equivalent to an average of 3 billion cubic feet of gas per day.
