Director General of National Police (DGSN) and Territory Surveillance services (DGST) Abdellatif Hammouchi participated this week in the official celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the founding of Spain’s National Police, the only security and intelligence official from an African country to participate in the ceremony.
DGST’s chief also held bilateral talks with a number of his Spanish counterparts, notably Director General of the National Police, Francisco Pardo Piqueras and Commissioner General of Information, Eugenio Pereiro Blanco.
Hammouchi also met with Spain’s Secretary of State for Security, Rafael Pérez Ruiz, and General Commissioner for Foreigners and Borders, Julián Ávila Polo.
The discussions with the heads of Spain’s security services provided an opportunity to review the significant results achieved with respect to Moroccan-Spanish security cooperation, particularly in terms of operational coordination and technical assistance to combat terrorist threats, organized crime, irregular migration networks, and human and drug trafficking.
Hammouchi also discussed with his Spanish counterparts a number of security threats and risks that both countries face, as well as mechanisms to develop and broaden the scope of bilateral security cooperation in order to confront such challenges with a shared vision.
King Felipe VI of Spain joined the formal ceremonies commemorating the founding of the national police force.
