April visitors to the Kingdom totaled 1.3 million, marking a 17% year-on-year increase, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts, Social Economy and Solidarity.
This tourism sector momentum is due to the 15% climb in foreign tourists and a 20% increase in Moroccan expatriate visitation.
In Q1 of 2024, Morocco received 4.6 million visitors–accounting for 567,000 arrivals– representing a growth of 14% compared to the end of April, 2023.
International tourism has been a major driver of this growth, increasing by 15% compared to the end of April, 2023, and equivalent to approximately 340,000 additional foreign tourists. They comprised 56% of the total arrivals, a 1% increase from the previous year.
“These exceptional results pave the way for promising prospects for the 2024 summer season and for the entire year. Our roadmap programs, the mobilization of all stakeholders, as well as our synergy with professionals, continue to bear fruit,” Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatima Zahra Ammor said.
The Minister added that her division is continuing the implementation of regional and national strategies outlined in the roadmap, which are expected to welcome a total of 15.5 million tourists by the end of 2024.
