Moroccan international midfielder Hakim Ziyech will stay with his current club, Turkey’s Galatasaray, as announced by the Neapolitan football journalist Fabrizio Romano in a tweet on Wednesday, as Coach Okan Buruk stands by the player.
Chelsea, the initial team of Ziyech, had sent a letter to Galatasaray confirming the transfer, as the player’s contract with the Blues is expiring this summer.
However, the coach intervened due to Hakim’s fine performance, primarily after the win over Sivasspor in the Turkish league.
This shift was made possible by the activation of an obligation to a “buy clause,” a contractual deal that was triggered and signed with Chelsea publicly accepting the arrangement by sending a letter to Galatasaray.
He has amassed 8 goals and 4 assists in 21 appearances in all competitions, including standout performances in Galatasaray’s Champions League campaign.
Apparently, Chelsea made Hakim’s transfer overly complicated, with aims for him to join An Nassr and Paris Saint Germain last summer–while keeping him on the bench despite his exceptional performances–both with the club and the national team.
Ziyech struggled to arrive at the Turkish club last August after a long-standing conflict with the Blues administration and coach.
Ziyech played 107 games for Chelsea since leaving Dutch Club Ajax and joining the English football club in 2020. The transfer cost Chelsea 33.3 million pounds.
