The Hassania School of Public Works (EHTP) hosted the opening of the 27th EHTP Entreprises Forum in Casablanca on Wednesday, centered around the theme “Revitalizing the High Atlas: Advancing Moroccan Engineering Through Innovation, Sustainability, and Solidarity.”
This annual event, organized by EHTP students, gathered key figures from the professional and economic sectors, along with experts and researchers, to deliberate on current job market challenges and trends. It served as a platform for fostering dialogue among students, EHTP graduates, and local as well as international companies.
The selection of the forum’s theme for the three-day event that runs from May 7-9 was inspired by the significant 7-magnitude earthquake that struck central Morocco on September 8 last year, resulting in extensive damage to approximately 26,900 homes, including over 4,230 collapses and at least 22,560 structures being partially damaged.
This forum provided EHTP engineering students with insights into companies’ initiatives to aid the region’s recovery and enhance its resilience while highlighting their role in the restoration of damaged infrastructure.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Equipment and Water Mustapha Fares, EHTP director Jaouad Boutahar, President of the Moroccan Federation of Consulting and Engineering (FMCI) Nabil Benazzouz, and various heads of companies, national and international experts, and others attended the school the opening ceremony of the 27th EHTP-Entreprises Forum on Monday.
During the ceremony, EHTP concluded partnership agreements with FMCI and Bimotech, a subsidiary of the Moroccan construction firm KLK, offering internships and ongoing training opportunities for EHTP students.
“More than 50 companies are participating in this year’s edition. The objective of this forum is to facilitate the youth’s integration into the job market,” Boutahar told BarlamanToday.
“We have signed an agreement with EHTP for innovation, continuous training and capacity building, applied research, especially in local materials and methods of construction as well as to organize seminars and forums,” Benazzouz said.
The FMCI president added that this collaboration will allow students to have continuous contact with professionals and to meet the field experts.
“We are here today in EHTP to participate in masterclasses and training sessions and learn how to manage job or internship interviews,” EHTP -Entreprises Forum association board member Doha Hajboune stated.
“This is our first time participating in the EHTP Entreprises Forum. We are seeking to recruit candidates with diverse profiles, particularly in engineering disciplines such as computer and civil engineering. These professionals are crucial to bolstering our university’s capabilities across various projects, whether in education or research,” the Director of the human resources department at UM6P said.
She added that with numerous projects on the horizon, UM6P requires skilled engineers to drive innovation both within the university and in external partnerships. “Embracing digitalization and artificial intelligence tools, we aim to not only engage with the EHTP but also attract top talent in the field of computing.“
An engineering student at EHTP said that the forum is an opportunity for all students and companies to have a platform for meetings and networking. The forum also allowed students an opportunity for career counseling to better address professional experiences and secure internships or jobs.
