The Midparc integrated industrial zone, situated in Nouacer (30 km from Casablanca) and Swedish group Trelleborg signed an 11-million-euro agreement on Monday to construct a new industrial unit specializing in the manufacturing of sealing systems for the aerospace at MidParc.
The new project will span an area of 7,800 square meters, including 5,100 square meters of buildings, and is expected to create between 150 and 200 direct jobs.
Midparc President Hamid Benbrahim El Andaloussi and President of Trelleborg Aerospace’s commercial unit Gordon Roper signed the agreement. Minister of Industry and Commerce Ryad Mezzour attended the signing ceremony.
“This is the first time a Swedish investor specializing in the manufacturing of sealing systems in aerospace has established operations in Morocco,” Mezzour said.
The minister highlighted the importance of this partnership for developing the aerospace industry ecosystem in Morocco, stating that this “contributes to strengthening Morocco’s industrial competitiveness while promoting significant local integration.”
“The Trelleborg group brings us advanced technologies in polymer techniques that protect aerospace, engine, and electronic equipment, ensuring safety and durability,” Midparc’s El Andaloussi stated. He noted the significance of the project in bolstering the national aerospace base and positioning it as a key player in Europe.
Roper said he was pleased to contribute to the growth of Morocco’s aerospace infrastructure, highlighting its unique development over the past two decades.
“This new factory will enhance Trelleborg’s position as a major supplier for leading aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing and Airbus,” he asserted. He underscored the importance of supporting Safran, a high-technology group operating globally in aeronautics, space, and defense, which has already made substantial investments in the North Africa region.
Trelleborg established its first production unit in Kenitra in 2021 to manufacture automotive boots.
Founded in Sweden in 1905, Trelleborg operates 30 R&D centers and employs over 15,600 people across more than 100 sites in 40 countries.
