Spanish-Moroccan Collaborative Effort Helps Arrest Seven Suspects Smuggling 1,700 kg of Hash
Spain’s police services arrested seven individuals in the coast of Tacoronte (in Tenerife) on Wednesday, thanks to information provided by Morocco’s Territorial Surveillance Services (DGST), warning of the imminent arrival of a boat carrying 1,715 kilograms of hashish from Morocco.
The agents surprised seven people on the “Mesa Del Mar” promenade, while they were unloading the drug bundles from a semi-rigid boat into a van. Five people were transporting the drug, while two others were acting as boat captains.
The Spanish authorities seized 47 drug bales, an inflatable boat, a van, a satellite phone, several cell phones and a GPS navigation system.
The operation involved agents from the Judicial Police Unit (UOPJ), Civil Security patrols, Tax and Border units, as well as the Provincial Maritime Services, with the support of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Commandery.
The suspects were brought before the La Laguna Guard Magistrate, who ordered them to be remanded in custody on the charge of offence against public health.
