Morocco’s national phosphates and fertilizers producer’s philanthropic affiliate, the OCP Foundation, released its annual activity report for 2023 yesterday outlining the societal impact projects it implemented last year, according to a press release.
Entitled “Fostering Inspiring Transformations to Build a Common Future,” the report summarizes a year of initiatives to bolster research and development (R&D), disseminate social innovation, promote inclusive and quality education, and strengthen community engagement.
The foundation expanded its footprint significantly throughout 11 countries, with 109,635 individuals participating in its program, with women accounting for about 45% of those. Major accomplishments include the co-development of 344 projects in cooperation with 325 entities throughout Morocco and the Southern countries.
Committed to providing quality education for all, the OCP Foundation supported and initiated a total of 245 projects in 2023 impacting 86,279 beneficiaries, 49% of whom were girls. It also facilitated the reinforcement of 147 entities and the training of 3,803 educators, including 752 executives.
The Foundation’s sustainable economic and social initiatives have left a substantial imprint in all its areas of operation, mainly supporting 49 projects, conducting nine diagnostic assessments, and aiding 1,956 beneficiaries almost half of them (44%) women.
Collaborative efforts involving 303 of the foundation’s partners permitted the support of 245 cooperatives.
The report also detailed the foundation’s research and development efforts, financing 142 research projects, supporting 18 funds, mentoring 1,810 researchers, and training 50 individuals in fund management.
With respect to development on the African continent, the Foundation worked with ten of its African partners to support 19,590 beneficiaries, produced 239 public awareness-raising radio podcasts that reached 1 million people, trained 4,644 people, supported 27 cooperatives, and reforested 155 hectares of land with 81,000 seedlings.
Established in 2007, the OCP Foundation supports social and community projects of the OCP Group, focusing on human development for vulnerable communities. It emerged in 2012 as a public service organization to develop innovative solutions to Africa’s challenges, particularly in the agricultural and agribusiness sectors.
