Moroccan Ilyas Hajri secured the title of World Quran Reader in the memorizing (Hafiz) category at the fourth Bahrain Online Quran Recitation Competition, as three other Moroccan competitors earned other prizes at the same competition, on Wednesday at the Cultural Hall in Manama, reported the Bahraini Outlet Alayam today.
Hajri has constantly demonstrated brilliance in Quranic recitation competitions. Last year, he earned first place in the International Quran memorizing competition in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Moroccan Yassine El Kazzini is Hajri’s runner up in the same division.
Moroccans Abdelbasset Ourach and Moustapha Zahid finished third in the categories of memorized recitation (Tajweed) and melodic recitation (Murattal).
Mohamed Sameer Mohamed Mujahid of Bahrain was awarded World Quran Reciter in the Tajweed category, and Ahmed Mohamed Saleh Ahmed of Yemen won the same title in the juvenile reciters category.
The tournament drew almost 5,000 competitors from 74 nations.
Moroccans have established a solid reputation for their skill in Quran reciting competitions, regularly excelling on a worldwide scale.
