The Republic of Sierra Leone, represented by its Foreign Minister Timothy Musa Kabba, expressed its firm support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and endorsement of the 2007 Moroccan autonomy initiative as the sole credible and realistic solution to the regional dispute over the Sahara, in a meeting today in Rabat.
This stance was expressed in a joint statement issued concluding the discussions between the two officials.
The Sierra Leone’s top diplomatic official reiterated his country’s unwavering support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its Sahara, which was further bolstered by the opening of a Consulate in Dakhla, in August 2021, according to the joint statement.
Sierra Leone also participated in the Ministerial Conference in support of the autonomy initiative, at the invitation of the Kingdom and the United States of America, on January 15, 2021.
