Early this morning, the National Police (DGSN) in Tangier arrested three individuals, ages 27 to 36–one of whom possesses a criminal record–on suspicion of cocaine possession and trafficking, a security source reported.
The police apprehended the suspects, who had been driving a light-duty vehicle, in Drissia District for their involvement in drug trafficking.
The subsequent search resulted in the seizure of 1 kilogram and 42 grams of cocaine, a cold weapon, and electronic devices, along with a sum of money that is believed to be the proceeds from their criminal activities.
When cross-referenced with the DGSN database, the source added that one of the traffickers happens to be the subject of several national search warrants issued by the judicial police in Tangier for suspicion of involvement in similar cases related to drug trafficking.
The suspects are now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, which is looking at who may also be connected to these criminal activities, with an eye on regional and global links.
