Morocco’s national futsal team won the African Futsal Championship for the third consecutive year by beating Angola 5-1 yesterday in the final match held at the Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.
The Atlas Lions team managed to score five goals in the match. Soufiane Bourite scored the first goal in the 6th minute, followed by Idriss Rais El Fenni in the 16th minute, Soufiane El Mesrar in the 17th minute, Anas El Ayyane in the 31st minute, and Bilal Bakkali in the 35th minute. Angola’s only goal was scored by Adérito in the 7th minute.
The third-place playoff between Libya and Egypt ended in a 2-2 draw, with Libya defeating Egypt 3-1 in a penalty shootout.
These victories secure spots in the Futsal World Cup 2024 for Morocco, Angola, and Libya. The tournament will be held in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino praised Morocco’s contributions to African and world football, highlighting the country as a football powerhouse and praising its event-hosting and organizational abilities, in a statement yesterday.
