Morocco’s national carrier, Royal Air Maroc (RAM), launched a tender to acquire new plans on April 15 to meet rising travel demands as Morocco prepares to co-host the 2030 World Cup along with Spain and Portugal, RAM CEO Abdelhamid Addou told Reuters.
Despite the significant tender, confidentiality remains paramount.
Addou said in October that RAM has plans to procure 200 planes, especially medium-haul one with long and short haul aircraft to compete effectively in Africa’s growing aviation sector.
With a current fleet of 52 airplanes, predominantly Boeing models, RAM serves approximately 50 African airports.
This strategic expansion aligns with Morocco’s tourism targets of attracting 17.5 million visitors by 2026 and 26 million by 2030, following a record-breaking 14.5 million tourist arrivals last year.
