Morocco’s Tourism Office (ONMT) launched the second phase of its roadshow in Washington, DC on Tuesday, to showcase the diversity and richness of Morocco’s tourism and hospitality industries while expanding the agency’s footing in the American market, the Moroccan News Agency (MAP) reported.
Youssef Amrani, the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Washington, attended the event, which was staged against an authentic Moroccan backdrop. Other attendees included American dignitaries, tourism operators, and media representatives based in the American capital.
“Beyond its historical treasures and cultural richness, Morocco is a land of breathtaking natural beauty,” Ambassador Amrani stated.
Amrani also noted that Morocco, with its “renowned hospitality, modern infrastructure, and strong commitment to sustainable tourism,” warmly welcomes travelers from all over the world.
Siham Fettouhi, ONMT’s North America Director, focused on Morocco’s promotional efforts targeted at boosting the country’s destination visibility and commercialization in the US market.
The roadshow, which started in Miami on April 15 and will end in New York on April 17, seeks to “position Morocco as a top-of-mind destination for US travelers,” Fettouhi said.
The promotional campaign and the tour are also promoting United Airlines’ new direct flight from New York to Marrakech, which will begin in October and serve as a platform for meetings and exchanges between Moroccan professionals and various American influencers and media, according to Fettouhi.
Morocco aspires to broaden its appeal to the American travel industry, to attract one million tourists annually. In 2023, around 400,000 American visitors reached Morocco, accounting for 800,000 overnight stays, a 19% increase over 2019.
