Morocco’s Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, and Minister of the Interior, Information, Decentralization, and Territorial Administration, responsible for Relations with the Institutions of the Republic of the Union of the Comoros, Mahmoud Fakridine, signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday in Rabat in the field of civil protection.
This agreement specifically targets the prevention and management of major risks which pose a serious threat to the safety of people, property, and the environment.
The collaborative effort also aims to train experts in forecasting, prevention, and rescue for civil protection personnel, as well as for the development of training programs, exchange of information, and scientific and technological studies.
In addition, it encompasses mutual assistance in technical expertise and reinforcement of rescue resources between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Union of Comoros in case of catastrophic events or major accidents.
This agreement’s signature came during the two officials’ meeting, which is part of the Comorian official’s working visit to Morocco from April 16 to May 8.
The two ministers had discussed methods by which to strengthen the amicable and strategically significant relationship between the two countries, with intentions to establish it as a model partnership to jointly address regional security and stability, particularly in Africa, the Ministry of the Interior said in a press release.
