The Judicial Police in Kenitra launched a judicial investigation yesterday, under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, into the alleged involvement of a police officer in drug possession and trafficking, security sources reported.
The suspected individual was arrested during a security operation conducted in Kenitra, in collaboration with Morocco’s Territorial Surveillance Services (DGST).
The officer, who works in Salé (near Rabat) and who is currently on annual leave, was caught red-handed in possession of 151 grams of cocaine, along with several boxes of glue believed to be controlled substances (i.e., specifically for huffing/sniffing and bagging purposes), as well as a sum of money in both local (MAD) and foreign (euro) currencies, purportedly the financial proceeds from these activities.
His detention came after the initiation of a probe involving three other individuals who were apprehended on-the-spot for possession of 203 grams of cocaine. The same source stated that the probe uncovered this officer’s involvement.
The accused police agent is now in custody pending further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, into other individuals involved in these criminal activities, with a focus on regional and international connections.
The National Police (DGSN) decided to temporarily suspend the officer pending the outcome of the judicial inquiry.
