The Royal Navy intercepted two boats on Sunday, respectively 22 km and 19 km southwest of Tarfaya, carrying 118 would-be illegal immigrants, according to the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) in a press release. Nine women and three minors were passengers on the watercrafts.
Those involved are of Sub-Saharan and Asian origin. They were heading to Canary Islands.
The individuals rescued received necessary medical care on board before being handed to the Royal Gendarmerie for routine administrative procedures.
