Belgium considers the Moroccan Autonomy Plan, introduced in 2007, as “a serious and credible effort by Morocco and as a solid foundation for a solution accepted by the parties.”
This stance was expressed during the third meeting of the Morocco-Belgium High Joint Commission, co-chaired by Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo on Monday in Rabat.
De Croo reaffirmed Belgium’s enduring support for the United Nations-led process towards a just, sustainable, and mutually acceptable political solution for the parties, according to the Declaration.
Both parties agree on “…the UN’s exclusive role in the political process and reaffirm their support for UN Security Council Resolution 2703 (2023), which highlights the parties’ responsibility in pursuing a practical, sustainable, and compromise-oriented political solution.
Belgium’s Prime Minister arrived in Rabat on Sunday evening, heading an important delegation on a working visit to the Kingdom.
Justice Minister Abdelatif Ouahbi welcomed the Belgian delegation as it disembarked at the Rabat-Salé Airport.
