The administration of the Khouribga 2 local prison denied allegations that 90 inmates had food poisoning and were not transferred to the hospital, in a release posted on Friday on social media.
The administration said that eight prisoners suffered from digestive problems due to overeating, and presented minor symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
The same prisoners have received the necessary treatment at the prison’s clinic, and their state of health does not give cause for concern, the same source added.
It explained that such happenings are usually overhyped by internet users, causing the inmates’ families to worry needlessly.
The administration reserves the right to take legal action against those spreading such rumours.
