French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Morocco has been postponed until September, 2024, according to well-informed sources.
The visit is scheduled sometime between September 9-13, after the conclusion of the upcoming Paris Olympics scheduled from June 26 July to August 11 in Paris, and the European elections which will take place from June 6-9.
French media outlets had previously speculated about an April visit by Macron to Morocco in order to resolve recent diplomatic tensions between the two countries.
In September, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune will make a state visit to France, officially announced by the Élysée following a phone call between Tebboune and Macron in March.
Recently, French Foreign Affairs Minister Stéphane Séjourné stated in an interview with RFI and France 24 that the “diplomatic issue will be resolved between the two Heads of Morocco and France.”
In his first visit to Morocco since his appointment in January, 2024, Séjourné reaffirmed Paris’s “clear and constant” support for Morocco’s autonomy plan to resolve the Sahara dispute.
