Morocco’s Ambassador to Italy, Youssef Balla, received the President of FederPetroli Italia Michele Marsiglia at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Rome, Italian news outlet Puglialive reported on Monday.
President Marsiglia highlighted the strong bond between the Italian energy industry and Morocco, especially following the recent earthquake in the North African country.
The discussion between the two parties centered on Morocco’s significant contributions to energy transition policies, showcasing its commitment to various forms of renewable energy and green hydrogen alongside traditional fossil fuels.
The meeting underscored the mutual interest in enhancing bilateral commercial and industrial ties, as well as engaging companies in Moroccan projects.
During the meeting, reference was made to the Mattei Plan for Africa proposed by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, along with the substantial investments planned across the African continent.
President Marsiglia and Ambassador Balla also exchanged perspectives on the global energy landscape, focusing on the complex situations in the Middle East and the evolving scenarios in the Mediterranean region.
