Sweltering heat is forecast to hit several regions of the Moroccan kingdom from Tuesday to Friday this week, with temperatures soaring to 40°C, according to an orange alert weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Agency (DGM) yesterday. This heatwave will be preceded by strong wind gusts.
Starting Tuesday, scorching weather is predicted in Taroudant, Guelmim, Assa-Zag, and Es-Semara, with temperatures ranging from 35 to 39°C.
The provinces of Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chtouka-Ait-Baha, Sidi Ifni, Tan-Tan, Laayoune, Tarfaya, Boujdour, Aousserd, and Oued Ed-Dahab will experience a spike in temperatures ranging from 36 to 40°C from Wednesday to Friday.
Temperatures are projected to rise to between 34 and 38°C in multiple provinces Wednesday to Friday, including Fquih Ben Saleh, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Sidi Bennour, Settat, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Kelaat Sraghna, Essaouira, Marrakech, Rhamna, Safi, and Youssoufia.
Strong winds accompanied by dust storms are expected to reach 70 to 90 km/h on Monday between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. in the provinces of Assa-Zag, Sidi Ifni, Guelmim, Es-Semara, and Ran Tan.
In the provinces of Essaouira, Chichaoua, Figuig, and Errachidia, wind gusts are anticipated beginning Monday at 2:00 p.m. until Tuesday at 6:00 p.m., according to DGM.
