Moroccan referees Bouchra Karboubi and Fatiha Jermoumi were selected by the FIFA Referees Committee to officiate matches at the Olympic Football Tournaments Paris 2024, as announced in a FIFA press release, on Wednesday.
Karboubi has been designated as one of the referees, while Jermoumi will serve as one of the assistant referees.
The FIFA Referees Committee appointed a total of 89 match officials, including 21 referees, 42 assistant referees, 20 video match officials, and six support referees–representing 45 countries–to oversee the tournaments.
In its statement, FIFA explained that the match officials’ preparation for the Olympic Games will be closely monitored by a team of FIFA technical trainers, which includes referees, video assistant referee (VAR) instructors, match analysts, fitness coaches, physiotherapists, and sports scientists.
This support team seeks to provide the officials with comprehensive guidance and support.
The women’s tournament is set to kick off on July 25, 2024, with the gold medal match scheduled for August 10, 2024 at the Parc des Princes in Paris. The men’s competition will commence on July 24, 2024, and conclude with the gold medal match on August 9, 2024 at the same venue.
