Morocco’s National Police (DGSN) in Guercif, northeast of Morocco, apprehended a 63-year-old Dutch-Egyptian citizen on Monday, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant based on his alleged involvement in heroin trafficking, the DGSN announced in a press release yesterday.
After verifying the Interpol database, the police identified the suspect as the subject of a “red notice” issued at the behest of “Interpol Wiesbaden,” the Interpol Central Office in Germany, in connection with his presumed involvement in drug trafficking.
He was remanded into police custody pending further investigation, under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
The Interpol Bureau in Rabat is responsible for notifying the relevant German authorities of his detention before initiating extradition procedures.
