The Civil Defense Services had to intervene on numerous occasions to evacuate people and to unclog drains.
Responding swiftly to the crisis, the civil guards’ elements sprang into action, evacuating 13 people who found themselves stranded by the floods in the rural commune of Sahtryine, within the province of Tetouan.
The disastrous situation drove local authorities to mobilize boats, trucks, and other equipment to help with the evacuation of those trapped by rising floodwaters.
Reports indicate that more than four homes were inundated, exacerbating the plight of affected residents.
In a statement to the press, Mohamed El Hafaoui, Director of the Saniat Rmel Regional Hospital in Tetouan, revealed that the hospital received five individuals in need of care at approximately 6 P.M. on Sunday. While most injuries were minor, one woman with a disability required specialized medical attention.
The Regional Health Directorate in the northern city declared a state of health emergency following a red alert from the Meteorology Agency, urging the implementation of preventive measures to mitigate the risks posed by inclement weather.
