Morocco will host the 4th International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA 2024) scheduled for November 2024.
The African-led Conference is a unique venue for leaders and experts to discuss forward-looking, more resilient health systems.
Minister of Health and Social Protection Khalid Ait Taleb, along with the Director-General of the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, chaired the signing ceremony of the cooperation and coordination agreement between Morocco and the African Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) of the African Union on Friday.
The agreement sets the mandate of scientific and technical committees as well as the organizing committee. It also name event coordinators.
Between 8,000 and 10,000 officials and decision-makers from various African countries are expected to take part in this year’s edition. An additional 30,000 global experts, workers, and researchers in the health sector will be joining online.
The participants will share best practices, exchange knowledge, and explore ways to boost cooperation among various African stakeholders and organizations working in public health. They will also discuss and address health challenges facing the African continent, and see how partnership efforts, scientific cooperation, and innovation could be furthered.
Morocco was picked as a venue for this event on the back of the close cooperation between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, Africa CDC, and the African Union.
Morocco participated in the third conference on public health in Africa, hosted by Lusaka, Zambia on November 27-30, 2023, under the presidency of Ait Taleb.
