Morocco and the Italian Republic signed an agreement providing for mutual recognition of each country’s driving licenses on Wednesday at the headquarters of Italy’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in Rome.
The agreement removes obstacles faced by Moroccan residents in Italy when exchanging their driving licenses for new ones at the Italian license registration services.
The signing of the agreement marks the culmination of extensive negotiations between the two countries, reflecting the continuous commitment of the Moroccan government to defend the interests of Moroccans living abroad.
Moroccan ambassador to Rome Youssef Balla and Italy’s Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini signed the agreement.
During the signing ceremony, Salvini highlighted Morocco’s developmental progress and economic growth in road, rail, and port infrastructure.
He called for further strengthening of bilateral relations in transportation, highlighting the investment opportunities offered by the Kingdom.
Balla highlighted that the agreement reflects the firm and continuing cooperation commitment of the Moroccan government, adding that this new instrument adds to the legal arsenal that governs the cooperation and partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Italian Republic in several areas of common interest.
