The Moroccan Auxiliary Forces (FA) have recently acquired 88 BearCat® armored vehicles from Lenco Industries, a leading manufacturer of armored police vehicles manufactured at Lenco’s primary facility in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, according to the Army-technology.com website.
The BearCat® is part of Lenco’s range of light-and-medium-armored response vehicles, widely utilized by specialized tactical teams both in the United States and internationally.
Featuring military-grade armor materials, a spacious open floor plan, and a robust 4×4 system, the BearCat® is able to easily accommodate 10-12 operators across challenging terrains. With a top speed of 90 mph (145 kph), it enables swift responses during critical situations.
The Moroccan Auxiliary Forces order included various BearCat® variants tailored to different mission requirements. Among these variants was the BearCat® Riot Control model, specifically designed for use by international police forces.
This model is equipped with a heavy-duty hydraulic plow capable of moving cars, debris, and other barriers, protective screens on all windows and lights, fire suppression capabilities, and several non-lethal options for hostile riot conditions.
The order included BearCat® variants for troop transport, communications, convoy protection, and SWAT operations.
The BearCat® APC is constructed on a commercially available chassis, facilitating warranty-covered repairs and parts replacement through original equipment manufacturer (OEM) dealers and truck centers.
This approach significantly reduces lifecycle maintenance costs and training expenses when compared with those of specialized military vehicles.
