A delegation of representatives from the US Congress commended King Mohammed VI’s leadership as an advocate of peace and regional stability in a press statement following a meeting with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita in Rabat on Monday.
Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch welcomed yesterday the delegation, comprised of six representatives from both the Republican and Democratic parties, who are visiting the kingdom to discuss ways of strengthening relations.
Representative August Pfluger of Texas stated that Morocco and the US have been working together to promote safety, stability, peace, and prosperity in many regions of the world.
“The Morocco-USA ties are of utmost importance,” Pfluger stated, highlighting the two nations’ historical ties that benefit national security.
He praised the Morocco-US free trade agreement and the countries’ collaboration, particularly in security areas, such as African Lion, Africa’s largest multinational military exercise.
Pfluger disclosed that discussions with Minister Bourita covered an array of mutual interests, including a partnership to combat all threats.
Lou Correa, a congressman representing California, hailed Morocco and the United States’ interactions and called for increased cooperation between the two countries in other domains, including combatting cross-border crime and terrorist organizations.
“Morocco is a strategic ally and a source of stability in the entire region,” Correa stated. He added that Morocco and the US have shared objectives and interests and cooperate to maintain regional peace and prosperity.
He noted that the Kingdom of Morocco was the first country to recognize the independence of the United States of America, and he applauded the long-standing friendships and historical ties that have followed.
