Customs authorities at the Bab Sebta crossing (North Eastern Morocco) seized upscale jewelry intended for smuggling, with an estimated value of around one million MAD.
Officers subjected a utility vehicle registered in Spain, driven by a Moroccan expatriate, to a thorough search operation, leading to the discovery of three high-end watches and two diamond-studded gold bracelets, according to a customs source.
The source added that the driver of the vehicle had been attempting to sell these goods in the national market without authorization from the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration (ADII).
The suspect was handed over to the judicial police in M’diq for further investigation into this matter.
