Early this morning, a 3.4 magnitude tremor on the Richter scale struck Morocco’s Grand Atlas region’s Al Haouz district, the epicenter of September 8 earthquake. To be precise, the epicenter was located in Aghbar commune, per the National Institute of Geophysics (ING).
ING Director Nasser Jebbour said that the tremor was felt around 7 A.M., was not harsh, and that inhabitants of neighboring territories–including those of Chichaoua and Marrakech– felt the tremor.
He added that it was one of the aftershocks of the violent earthquake that struck the Al Haouz area, where seismic resurgence activity is expected to continue for a good duration.
On September 8, Morocco’s South Central region experienced a devastating earthquake with its epicenter in Al Houz, which resulted in a significant number of casualties (nearly 3000 deaths) and widespread destruction.
