Heavy thunderstorms, snowfall above 1,500 m, and strong winds are forecast for Monday and Tuesday in a number of Moroccan provinces, the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) warned today.
Thunderstorms with heavy rain (20-35 mm) are expected from 8:00am to 1:00pm in Sidi Bennour, El Jadida, Berrechid, Safi and Essaouira, the DGM announced in a bulletin issuing an orange-level alert.
Storms and heavy rain are also expected at Azilal, El Kelaa des Sraghna, Fquih Ben Saleh, and Al Haouz from 12pm to 8pm.
Tomorrow, snow (15-30 cm) is forecast in Azilal, Beni Mellal, Al Haouz, Taza, Ifrane, Sefrou, Khenifra, Midelt, Ouarzazate, and Tinghir all day from around 9am to 11pm, the bulletin stated.
Strong winds (75-90 km/h) and dust storms are also anticipated on Tuesday in the regions of Bouarfa, Errachidia, Nador, Midelt, Tinghir, Figuig, Taourirt, Guercif, Zagora, Ouarzazate, and Oujda from 12 noon to 11pm.
