Algeria’s U20 coach Yacine Manaa was caught on camera as he slapped several of his team players for losing a friendly match to Tunisia (3-2), on Saturday in Blida, Algeria.
Many internet users commented on the video, which went viral, condemning the coach’s actions as a violation to FIFA code of conduct. The Federation has strict standards of professional conduct to ensure the physical integrity and safety of football players.
Several Algerian media outlets have already slammed the coach’s behavior as “bringing shame to Algerian football, especially as he is an educator who is supposed to set a good example on and off the pitch.”
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF), as well as FIFA and CAF, have not yet responded to the incident. Disciplinary sanctions are normally imposed in such rare cases.
