Morocco’s Under-23 national football team has been placed in Group B for the Men’s Football Olympic Tournament at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games that will take place July 24 to August 9, according to the draw held on Wednesday, at the headquarters of the Paris 2024 Organizing Committee (COJO). The team will compete against Argentina, Ukraine, and the team that finishes third (AFC3) in the U-23 Asian Cup.
The Asia Football Cup U23 Championship is scheduled for April 15 to May 3, to determine the Asian Cup representatives for the Paris Games.
The Moroccan team secured its place in the tournament by defeating Egypt 2-1 in the Africa U23 Cup of Nations final at the Rabat Moulay Abdelah Stadium in July last year.
The inaugural match for the North African team will be against Argentina on July 24 at the Geoffroy-Guichard Stadium in Saint-Étienne. This will be followed by a match against Ukraine on July 27 on the same pitch.
In the group stage final, the Moroccans will encounter the AFC3 on July 30 at the Allianz Riviera Stadium in Nice.
The competition features 16 more national teams, arranged into three groups:
Group A: France, United States, Guinea’s Playoff Winner vs. AFC, New Zealand.
Group C: AFC 2, Spain, Egypt, and Dominican Republic.
Group D: AFC 1, Paraguay, Mali, and Israel.
Since 1972, Morocco has competed in seven Olympic Games.
