Morocco’s National football team player Brahim Diaz spoke to the press on Monday in Salé about how he feels wearing his new Atlas Lions jersey.
“Defending the colors of the Moroccan team is a great honor,” the Real Madrid midfielder said upon his arrival at Rabat-Salé airport to participate in the national team’s training camp ahead of the two friendly matches against Angola and Mauritania. “I am proud to be part of the squad selected by national coach Walid Regragui, which includes world-class players.”
The 24-year-old player added that he has “felt a lot of affection and sincere feelings,” and is determined to make the Moroccan public proud and happy.
“I would like to thank King Mohammed VI for the support and affection I have received and for his constant support for sports in general and football in particular,” he noted. He said he hopes to shine with the Atlas Lions in the upcoming matches.
Morocco’s national football team coach Walid Regragui called up Diaz for the two friendly matches that the Atlas Lions will play at the Grand Stade d’Agadir, against Angola on March 22 and Mauritania four days later.
Regragui’s selection also includes Real Madrid’s star, Youssef Lekhedim (only 18 years old), who earned his first call-up to the Moroccan U20 team in September.
Villareal’s Ilias Akhomach, a player with experience in the Moroccan Olympic team, AS Monaco’s Eliesse Ben Seghir, and Al-Ain’s Soufiane Rahimi are also among the Moroccan team players.
