On Saturday morning, the National Police (DGSN) and customs officials at Tanger-Med port, successfully halted a cargo truck registered in Morocco, which–when subjected to routine scanning procedures–revealed the existence of 1,200 kilograms of cannabis resin, according to security sources.
The search revealed that the illegal substance was hidden in secret compartments built into the truck’s metal frame.
The driver, who is a 28-year-old Moroccan, was arrested and taken into police custody. He will remain on remand pending further investigation under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office, which is looking into broader connections of these criminal activities, with an eye on regional and global links.
