Moroccan exports are growing not only across Europe but throughout Africa as well, with a substantial increase in deliveries to Cameroon. Since 2022, the Kingdom has emerged as that nation’s largest African supplier. According to a recent National Institute of Statistics (INS) report, Morocco contributed 1.4% of Cameroon’s total import value in 2022.
Africa accounts for 12.2% of Cameroon’s imports, equivalent to 2.75 million tons of products for 598.2 billion CFA francs.
In terms of quantity, Morocco exported 319,200 tons of goods to Cameroon, tripling its exports from the previous year.
In 2022, Morocco’s contribution of Cameroon’s total import value was 1.4%, totaling 70.5 billion CFA francs.
Whereas Cameroon imports from 190 countries globally, the top 10 (non-African) suppliers account for 56% of total imports.
Morocco has surpassed Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon’s top African exporter in 2021, Côte-d’Ivoire–which supplied 110,000 tons valued at 60.6 billion CFA francs–and Gabon, with 63,100 tons valued at 58 billion CFA francs.
China remains the leading global supplier to Cameroon, despite a 1.2-point decline. With 903,000 tons of goods delivered and a turnover of 755.8 billion CFA francs, China alone accounts for 15.8% of Cameroon’s total import value.
India ranks second, a 10.8% share in import value, with 1.02 million tons valued at 530.1 billion CFA francs. France follows in third place, with 566,400 tons of goods valued at 404.2 billion CFA francs.
