As part of a National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) plan to enhance the health of mothers and children, 94 projects were completed in Meknes from 2021 to 2023 at a total cost of 4.928 million MAD.
These projects and operations have involved providing equipment dedicated to improving maternal and child health at rural health centers. 28 initiatives costing a total of 2.576 million MAD established maternity wards (3 projects / 1.014 million MAD) and acquired ambulances (one project / over 483,000 MAD), according to data from the social work department of the Meknes prefecture.
The government launched public awareness campaigns and medical caravans (61 operations / 335,623 MAD) and aid distribution to benefit newborn babies born into needy families (one operation / 519,090 MAD).
More than 153,000 people benefitted from these projects, including more than 87,000 women.
Health and social protection has been a priority of the INDH, which focuses especially on maternal and child health through “Investing in Human Capital for Future Generations,” a program to ensure that mothers and children receive better care.
