The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs announced that the first day of Ramadan, 1445 Hegira (Islamic calendar), will fall on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, for Morocco.
The Ministry indicated in a statement that the moon sighting committee did not spot the crescent on Sunday (March 10, corresponding to Shaaban 29, 1445) after the prayer of Al Maghrib, making Tuesday the first day of the holy month in the Kingdom.
Many Arab countries are set to start Ramadan on Monday, such as Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, and Egypt.
During Ramadan, Muslims around the world fast from sunrise to sunset. They also observe Ramadan, one of the five pillars of Islam, through prayer, reflection, and Quran reading.
