The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, in partnership with Renault Group Morocco, established a housing platform for the residents of the Toulkine douar, located at an altitude of 1,700 meters in the rural commune of Azgour in the province of Al Haouz. This community was significantly affected by the earthquake last September 8th.
This initiative involves 44 maritime transport containers converted into equipped housing units with beds, kitchen equipment, and cleaning products for the benefit of 220 individuals, including 12 widows, 14 senior citizens, families with members who have disabilities, along with 4 sanitary blocks and two classrooms within a primary school in this douar located 45 km from Amizmiz.
Souad Boulouiz, project manager at the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, said that in partnership with all stakeholders and partners, the Foundation has provided and equipped these housing units with all necessary supplies to ensure appropriate living conditions for the beneficiaries.
“The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity previously undertook similar initiatives, with the support of other partner institutions, particularly in the rural commune of Talat N’Yacoub,” she added.
General Manager of Renault Morocco Mohamed Bachiri noted that this project demonstrates the ongoing commitment of Renault Group Morocco and the Renault Morocco Foundation to communities affected by the earthquake.
“This initiative is also carried out in partnership with the CMA CGM Foundation and a network of suppliers from the Renault Group Morocco ecosystem,” he pointed out.
The transformation carried out at the group’s factory in Tangier required nearly 6,000 hours of work and the efforts of over 50 group employees.
A medical campaign will be organized to address school students’ challenges, as well. The youths will be attended to via mobile medical units per the directive of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, deployed in Amizmiz.
