Morocco’s Ambassador to the United States Youssef Amrani recently presented his credentials to U.S President Joe Biden at the White House.
“Honored to present my credentials to HE the President of the United States of America, marking the official start of my mission as Amb of His Majesty the King to the #USA,” Amrani tweeted on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday. “Eager to enhance our historic ties, promote our shared values and advance our strategic partnership.”
In a statement to MAP, Amrani affirmed his dedication to deepening the longstanding and strategic alliance between Morocco and the United States.
King Mohammed VI appointed Amrani as Morocco’s ambassador to the United States on October 19, 2023. He previously served as chargé de mission at the Royal Office from October 2013.
Amrani’s diplomatic experiences include serving as Ambassador to South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, and the Kingdom of Eswatini. He also held positions including Secretary-General of the Union for the Mediterranean (UPM) in 2011 and Minister-Delegate for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in January 2012.
Amrani served as Consul General of Morocco in Barcelona, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Belize in 2001, and Ambassador to Chile in November 1999.
Amrani was also Morocco’s ambassador to Colombia, Ecuador, and Panama in 1996.
