Morocco is testing the Brazilian KC-390 Millennium twin-jet for a potential military use, reported Spanish news outlet La Razon on Tuesday.
The aircraft, also known as the Embraer KC-390, is a medium-sized transport plane manufactured by the aerospace company Embraer and is equipped with two jet engines.
Capable of carrying up to 26 tons of cargo–inclusive of wheeled armored vehicles–the KC-390 is of a similar size to that of the C-130 Hercules.
Featuring a rear ramp for efficient loading and unloading of large cargo volumes, the KC-390 comes with an estimated price tag of 50 million dollars, significantly cheaper than its main competitors priced at 130 million dollars.
The aircraft’s crew consists of two pilots and a cargo manager. It can transport various combinations of payloads, including 26,000 kg of cargo, 80 troops, 74 stretchers with 8 auxiliaries, or 66 paratroopers.
The KC-390’s maximum speed is 992 km/h. With a load of 23,000 kg, it has a range of 2,820 km. With 19,000 kg, the range is 3,220 km, and with a load of 14,000 kg, its range is 5,820 km.
