Morocco’s Minister of Equipment and Water Nizar Baraka met with Spain’s Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility Oscar Puente Santiago on Monday in Rabat to hold talks on a number of cooperation projects, including several needed during the run-up to the 2030 World Cup.
Baraka said that the talks presented an opportunity to enhance bilateral ties and establish a plan for executing significant projects concerning infrastructure and the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
The discussions also revolved around the transcontinental railway project connecting Morocco and Spain, which will bolster their strong bilateral relations.
Baraka went on to say that the forthcoming meeting of the joint Spanish-Moroccan committee scheduled for the end of May to assess the studies conducted thus far, finalize the design of this strategic project, and outline its implementation for the benefit of both nations, as well as the African and European continents.
Santiago described the meeting as “fruitful,” pointing out that the discussions are enabling the two countries to explore a variety of infrastructure projects, including rail and road networks, as well as common challenges in organizing the 2030 World Cup, and port cooperation.
He also applauded the robust relationship between Morocco and Spain, remarking that this is the time to leverage this momentum to achieve mutual advancement.
