Three athletes will represent Morocco at the 19th World Indoor Athletics Championships which will be held from March 1-3 in Glasgow, Scotland.
The national team, led by coach Anas El Moudden, will consist of Abdelati El Guesse in the category of 800m, Anas Essayi in the 1,500m, and Hicham Akankam in both the 1,500m and 3,000m.
Morocco secured a total of 19 medals in previous editions of the World Indoor Athletics Championships, including six gold, five silver, and eight bronze.
Among the six gold medals secured by Moroccan athletes, three were notched by Hicham El Guerrouj (two in the 1,500m in 1995 and 1997, and one in the 3,000m in 2001).
Saïd Aouita in 1989 (3,000m), Hasna Benhassi in 2001 (1,500m), and Abdelaati Iguider in 2012 (1,500m) earned the remaining gold medals.
