Morocco secured the title of African Champion for the third time in a row at the 3rd African Muay Thai Championship held in Cairo, Egypt, from February 21 to 23, with an impressive tally of 15 medals, including 9 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze.
The Moroccan athletes outperformed the host country Egypt which finished second with 20 medals (6 gold, 7 silver, and 7 bronze), demonstrating their martial arts prowess. Algeria finished third with 9 medals, including 3 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
Morocco’s gold medalists are Amine Chtioui (-51 kg), Abdallah Saadi (-60 kg), Mohamed Yassine Mahssoun (-67 kg), Abdelali Zahidi (-71 kg), Keltoum Akhlouf (-48 kg), Oumaima Belouarrat (-51 kg), Salma Ajbour (-54 kg), Douaa Akhlouf (-60 kg), and Kaoutar Baarab (-63.5 kg).
Ichrak Laaroussi (-57 kg) and Amine Saja Eddine (+91 kg) secured silver medals, while bronze medals went to Achraf Ouhaji (-57 kg), Hamza Hmidach (-63.5 kg), Othmane Tahiri (-75 kg), and Oumaima Belouarrat in “Wai Kru.”
Morocco has kept the championship title since the inception of the tournament.
