Sixteen financial and accounting control institutions from Africa, Europe, Latin America, and Asia signed the “Rabat Declaration,” establishing the International Organization of Jurisdictional Control Bodies, on Friday in Rabat. The initiative, presided by Head of Morocco’s Audit Court Zineb El Adaoui, intends to enhance cooperation among member countries’ jurisdictional control institutions and promote best practices in financial and accounting control.
During the signing ceremony, El Adaoui told the press that this initiative would enhance the judicial work of higher control institutions, making it an international culmination of the mission of audit magistrates. She also emphasized the effective role and positive impact of this initiative in improving the performance of financial jurisdictions, promoting their efficiency, and reinforcing transparency and integrity principles for citizens of member states.
Bruno Dantas, Chairman of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) and President of Brazil’s Federal Court of Accounts, emphasized the importance of the new structure’s role, believing that it will improve the performance of financial control institutions and make the public sector more effective.
Gilles Miller, representing the Head of the French Court of Audit, highlighted the importance of higher control institutions in managing public funds and strengthening the foundation of modern states. He added that the creation of this organization would create a chance to establish an international cooperation model among control institutions of member countries, thereby enhancing their effectiveness.
