The Moroccan Foundation for Preschool Education Promotion (FMPS) announced that it opened almost 4,000 new preschool classes in 2023. This brings the total number of such classes in the country to over 21,000. The figure was made public in a press release following the 17th board meeting chaired by President Noureddine Boutayeb, and attended by Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports Chakib Benmousa.
Last year, the Foundation recruited over 5,000 preschool teachers, trained more than 15,000 educators, and provided initial training to 7,500 teachers, 32% of whom were affiliated with associations, in preparation for the 2023/2024 school year.
The FMPS announced plans to modernize its information system and enhance children’s skill assessment scales, with substantial funding from the Innovation Development Fund.
The foundation’s priorities include implementing a program to support and share expertise with preschool associations, as well as strengthening strategic partnerships.
In 2023, the National Education, Preschool, and Sports Ministry, in collaboration with the Interior Ministry, transferred preschool units established by the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) to Regional Education and Training Academies, a crucial step in the rural preschool development program.
With over 21,000 classes nationwide and a comprehensive preschool program, FMPS is gearing up for “Atfalouna 2030,” as defined by Pres. Boutayeb during the gathering.
The Board of Directors praised FMPS for its achievements and vision, with Minister Benmoussa emphasizing its crucial role as a national preschool education benchmark and reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to its initiatives.
