AFC Ajax, also known as Ajax Amsterdam, secured victory in the final match of the U19 International Tournament (sixth edition), organized by the Mohammed VI Football Academy (AMF) in Salé on Friday afternoon, defeating Danish FC Copenhagen with a score of 2-1.
FC Copenhagen secured the second position in the tournament standings, while Sevilla came in third, tailed by AFM.
The tournament was held from February 20-23, featuring 12 teams from 11 countries representing 4 continents, including the Mohammed VI Football Academy and Fath Sporting Club (Morocco), Liverpool (England), Flamengo (Brazil), Sporting Braga (Portugal), Galatasaray (Turkey), Strasbourg (France), Aspire Academy (Qatar), and Generation Foot (Senegal).
The AFM Tournament was first meant for U17 teams (in 2017) and saw the participation of eight teams. But, owing to its success and the competition it brought about, its third edition (in 2019) turned into an International U19 Tournament with 12 teams from elite football academies vying for the title.
The Academy, which required about 140 million MAD for its construction, meets European and FIFA standards and offers young Moroccan talents the finest possible training environment to succeed in top clubs nationally and internationally.
