The Casablanca Ain Sbaa 1 local prison confirmed that Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) former President Said Naciri’s health is “normal”, according to the administration statement on Wednesday.
Naciri, currently incarcerated at the mentioned prison, is under suspicion for his alleged involvement in the case of the “Malian Drug Baron,” Hadj Ahmed Ben Ibrahim, also known as “The Escobar of the Sahara”.
In response to rumors on various electronic platforms about Naciri’s health, the management of the prison declared that he “moves normally within the facility and spends long hours conversing with his defense team, who visit him regularly.”
The statement also clarified that several stories’ about Naciri’s purported request for transfer to an external hospital, were false.
Naciri’s defense had made a similar request, asserting his health rendered him unable to participate in hearings.
The prison administration emphasized that Naciri had sought external medical treatment, but he refused to disclose his medical records to the prison’s health service, hindering the evaluation of his claimed condition.
As per established procedures, the prison’s doctor has the sole authority to decide on external hospitalization based on the inmate’s medical history. It was underscored that Naciri received appropriate medication following multiple in-house medical consultations, explained the statement.
The medical staff at the prison also highlighted his efforts to put pressure on them and incite officials to neglect their duties.
The Prison Authority concluded that it is pointless for the prisoner’s defense to publish allegations about his state of health and alleged treatment by the health service, while linking this to the process of his judicial case under investigation, maintaining that these maneuvers will in no way dissuade it from applying the law and taking all measures to guarantee respect for the law within the prison, without any breach or discrimination whatsoever.
